Wyoming: Courage in a Lonesome Land (Dangberg Historical Series)
Published in Hardcover by Grace Dangberg Foundation (June, 1998)
Authors: Randy Adams and Craig Sodaro
Average review score:

For a 4th grade text, incredible amount of information
I picked up this book thinking I would glance through it getting a feeling for what my daughter was studying in her 4th grade class. Two hours later, and only half way through, I thought, what a great book. There may be too much information for 4th graders to assimulate but their parents will love it. The book traces Wyoming's history from the earliest times through the present ending with a visit to the office of the state's governor. Providing interest for both young and old readers are fictional sections that illustrate the historical periods covered in the text. These sections are cleverly written and filled with stories that make historical events come to life. The author is blessed with a unique ability to combine fact and fiction at a level that can be appreciated by all age groups. I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in the historic west - Wyoming in particular.

A wonderful text for kids and a great history read for adult
We, at Trail Elementary School, use this text in our 4th grade classes. The kids love it! Especially wonderful are the fictional stories that give flavor to the historical facts. We just got our revised editions in (1998) with a new cover and additional material. They're even better than the first edition.

You're Grounded Till You're Thirty!: What Works - And What Doesn't - In Parenting Today's Teens (Good Housekeeping Parent Guide)
Published in Paperback by Hearst Books (March, 1996)
Authors: Judith E. Craig and Judi Craig
Average review score:

Making it all comprehensible
Where was this book when I needed it? When I think back on those joyous and turbulent times when my sons were teenagers, things were never too clear, but Judi Craig, Ph.D., MCC is an experienced clinical psychologist and professional coach ...who writes with exceptional clarity. She manages to pull apart the tangled threads of teen-parent relating and show them to you, one by one, which is particularly important because when they come at you in real life, they’re going to be coming in confusing combinations. She’s also the mother of three grown children, so she’s been in the trenches and knows whereof she speaks. I know I’m supposed to believe that someone can know about teens who hasn’t raised one, but I don’t.

Craig points out right away something that’s often missing in parental advice books – there’s a warp and a woof to the fabric – there’s what’s going on with the teenager, and then there’s what’s going on with the parent(s). “What’s Really Happening with Parents of Teens?” addresses the developmental stages the parents are going through, which impact on the relationship. When you’re clear about yourself, you can handle the storms of teen emotions better.

Full of concrete advice, this book gives you specific suggestions for real-life situations that really work. She helps you keep your head about you and distinguish what's imprtant and what isn't: “If your teen does not seem to be unduly affected by his musical choices,” she writes, “and basically remains his usual self, there’s probably no reason to raise the issue and create a potential power struggle. On the other hand, if his new musical heroes seem to be part of a negative new identity, it would be wise to intervene…not all loud music that teens love contains objectionable content.”

She has a way of disarming loaded issues that makes the information a lot easier to absorb. Her chapter on the “S” word begins, “If there’s one issue that is guaranteed to bring anxiety to both parents and teens, it’s sex!” Somehow that statement allows you to read further, and you need to read further.

Read this book before your children become teens, and keep it on your bedside table when they are. If you counsel or coach, keep it in your office. It’s upbeat, common-sense advice, and you’re going to need it!

Excellent book!
I've been searching for books that actually have specific examples of teenage problems and what to do. This book hit it right on the head. I have also tried some of the ideas in this book with my 12 and 13 year old. It works. Just have patience.

Excellent Coverage
I searched long and hard for a book covering the details of the ZAK and other methods that I could use to simply my administrative function. This book is it.

The full spectrum is covered here, from installations to security profiles, from Office suite control to remote registry edits. Each topic is covered in full.

This is another fine example of what a technical computer book SHOULD be from O'Reilly & Associates, Inc.

Trust me with one thing .... there isn't another book that will give you the depth of coverage that this book provides. I literally looked at 50 books before finding this gem.

The most important NT book you could own.
Every NT book out there covers the basics, this book is for the person who is looking to get total control over his NT network. This book focuses on issues like scripted installation, .adm scripts and policy files, and much much more.

1 Corinthians
Published in Hardcover by Zondervan (10 April, 1995)
Author: Craig L. Blomberg
Average review score:

A balanced look at original meaning and modern application
Dr. Blomberg does an excellent job of combining scholarly but accessible exegesis of the text of 1 Corinthians with an extremely balanced examination of modern applications. The troubles of the Corinthian church remain germane for the 20th and 21st century church. In spite of the nearly two thousand year of "progress," problems such as willful and baseless divisiveness, sexual immorality, propriety of conduct during worship services, and the role of women in the church exist in one extreme or the other in almost every modern denomination. Every Christian can benefit from a modern look at the overarching importance of love in the life and ministry of believers. Dr. Blomberg's fair application across the doctrinal spectrum, his willingness to bridge between the original context and the modern to confront divisive traditions and practices head on, and his focus on the importance of the fundamental unity of all Christians make this a very valuable and very readable look at Paul's inspired solutions to the problems of both a first century church and modern churches.

The 15-Minute Executive Stress-Relief Program
Published in Paperback by Perigee (September, 1992)
Authors: Greg Herzog and Craig Masback
Average review score:

Not Just for Executives!
I first bought this compact little book over 5 years ago. I have since bought 3 more copies because I keep loaning it to friends who decide to keep it. My favorite exercises are the ones to reduce stress in the neck and shoulders. They can actually relieve the pain, even from stress headaches. They are simple to remember and you can do them anywhere. I have often used one to reduce stress in my shoulders while waiting at a traffic light near the end of a long commute! In the high-stress world we live in, this book is almost a necessity!

Estimating made easy
I must admit that I was hesitant when I started reading this book. It wasn't by choice, but by necessity that I became pleasantly surprised by Marques' wonderful narrative and witty reportoire on what could and should have been a dry subject. Oh, the reason I read the book was for work - and I increased my sales by 75% the first month after reading it. Thank you!
